It is worry or fear caused by having to take tests. Symptoms: Mental distraction (noise, temperature, passersby) Physical symptoms Mental blocks Building test-taking skills can help reduce test anxiety

It is caused by pressure, past experience and fear of failure

Set the right atmosphere (light, distractions, don’t do it if you are overtired) Make the most of your notes Develop a schedule (mark deadlines, breaks, be realistic) Create learning aids (charts, timelines, flashcards) Prepare yourself (ask questions, take notes, ask for help) Be kind to yourself (sleep and eat well)

For short-answer exams: Budget your time Do easiest questions first Look for clues in the questions Answer each question Use the full time allowed

Solve in the order given Think as you read Read each choice carefully Eliminate the wrong choices Make an educated guess Finish the exam

Read all questions first (underline key words) Organize your ideas (outline) Start with the easiest question Proofread at the end

Think positively Use your imagination in a positive way (as a winner not as a loser) Have a healthy diet and exercise regularly

Loosen your clothing Tighten the muscles in your toes Hold for a count of 10 Relax If your mind is blocked during tests: Close your eyes Take a deep breath Concentrate on your breathing Let it go Go back to the exam
