Hebrews 1:1-4 various 1 In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.

Hebrews 1:1-4 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.

4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs. Hebrews 1:1-4

Jesus – Son of God Hebrews 1

Romans 1:3-4 “…his Son, who as to his human nature was a descendant of David, and who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with Power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Hebrews 1:1 In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways…

God Reveals Himself as a Person Our God is not an impersonal force (Buddhism, Star Wars) Our God came near and lived with us for awhile. (John 1:14)

John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling place among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

God shows that He cares Our God is not so high that He holds no further interest in us. He is not the great clock maker who set it all in motion, but doesn’t care about us as individuals. (Islam, Deism) Our God left eternal glory to share our humanity and suffer in our place because He cares so deeply for us. (Philippians 2:6-8)

Philippians 2:6-8 Jesus… Who being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death – even death on a cross.

Hebrews 1:2 …but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son…

God Reveals Himself Through His Son God has not just spoken things about Himself, He has revealed Himself in the person of His Son. There can be no greater revelation – EVER because there is no one greater than Jesus. God said: “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17) In John 14:6-9 Jesus said…

John 14:6-9 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on you do know him and have seen him.” Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, “Show us the Father?”

Hebrews 1:1-4 In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.

How Do You Respond To a God who loves you so much He left the glories of heaven so He could pay the price for your sin? To a God who loves you so much that He has held the universe together since the beginning of time just so that you could experience His love? To a God who has not only paid the penalty for your sin, but has offered you adoption into His family?

Saying Thank-You How can we express gratitude for such marvelous grace? Jesus has asked us to respond by trusting Him and expressing that trust in baptism. Jesus has asked us to pattern our lives after His example. How about you? Are you ready to give your life to Him in thanksgiving today?
