4. Examples RESPECTING TUTORS AND OTHER LEARNERS (IN CLASS) Listening when my tutor is talking? Being punctual to class Listening to the views of other learners Entering the class ready to learn? ( e.g. Equipment, phones off, no food and drink) Displaying appropriate body language? Contributing to the topic? (even if it is a subject that you do not like!) Meeting deadlines for assessed work? Contributing fairly to group work? Making sure all the work I hand in is my work/ no plagarism? Using appropriate language in class Treating people who may be different to me as equals?

6. What can be classed as bullying? Unwanted physical contact Unwanted verbal or written contact Non verbal harassment e.g, staring or gestures Indirect harassment e.g, spreading gossip, ignoring and withdrawal of friendship Cyber-bullying e.g, through texts, emails, mobile phones, social networking sites Unwanted coercion eg, pressure to join a particular “gang”, political or religious group Unwelcome sexual advances e.g, pressure for unwanted sexual activity Victimisation e.g, singling out an individual for particular treatment or criticism Intimidation e.g, aggressive or threatening behaviour

7. What will happen after I have reported bullying? 1 The staff member you spoke to, will complete a report which also says what they have done to resolve the situation. 2 All reports of bullying go to the Student Services Manager and your Curriculum Leader/Head of Programme Area to ensure that action is taken. 3 If the incident is a serious assault, or harassment on grounds of race, religion, gender, disability, ethnicity or sexuality, it may constitute a hate crime, and will be reported to the Police who will investigate and provide support.
