The ‘Core’ Subjects The core subjects are the subjects everyone must do. Maths 1 GCSE English 1 or 2 GCSEs Science 1, 2 or 3 GCSEs RE/Humanities1 GCSE PE PHCSE No qualification* *some students will be able to achieve a Sports Leader Award through their PE lessons achieving more together

New Government Recommendations 8 (or more) subjects: English Baccalaureate Subjects English Maths Science Computing Languages Humanities 5 + any other 3

The Baccalaureate Pathway CORE Subjects + Spanish or French + Geography or History + 2 choices* * We recommend that 1 of them is Technology The Central Pathway CORE Subjects + 1 of: Geography History Computing French Spanish + 3 choices* *We recommend that 1 of them is Technology The Occupational Pathway Core Subjects + Occupational Skills + 2 choices* * We recommend that 1 of them is Technology Grades C and above in Maths, English, Science, Language and Geog/History = The English Baccalaureate In 2014 students followed the following pathways. We will be reviewing these pathways in the Autumn term 2014 ready for the Options Evening in January 2015.

Which pathway are you on? The pathway you have been put on has been decided based on the following: 1.How well you did at the end of Year 6 2.Information from all of your teachers at Liskeard 3.The courses you are already doing 4.National data predicting what grade you are most likely to get in each subject 5.Your Head of Year’s and Assistant Head of Year’s knowledge of you

So, what to pick? TIP 1 : What are you good at? TIP 2:What will you enjoy? TIP 3:What are your future aspirations? TIP 4:How do you prefer to learn and be assessed? TIP 5:Pick the subject NOT the teacher TIP 6:Don’t just follow your friends! It is our responsibility to make sure that you get the best chance in life. That means we must make sure that the options you choose are the ones you will enjoy AND will be successful in.
