Cap & Gown Pickup Thursday, May 9 11:00 am Cafeteria If your senior’s name appears on the “not clear” list for fines or lost textbooks, they will not be allowed to pick up cap and gown until record is cleared. ALL FINES, TEXTBOOKS, EQUIPMENT DUE BY WEDNESDAY, MAY 8!

Baccalaureate Practice Thursday, May 30 8:00 am SHS Gym All students participating in the Baccalaureate Ceremony will meet in the SHS Gym.

Baccalaureate Sunday, June 2, 2013 5:00 pm – SHS Gym All students participating in the Baccalaureate Ceremony will meet in the SHS library no later than 4:30 pm. Graduation cap, tassel, gown and SHS stole will be worn over the clothing. NOTE: Baccalaureate is not mandatory, but it is a nice addition to the graduation events.

Graduation Rehearsal Graduation is a voluntary ceremony. No one is required to participate in the ceremony in order to receive a diploma. The administration also reserves the right to deny any student from participating in the ceremony. All students who do plan to participate in the graduation ceremony must attend the mandatory rehearsal. Students must follow school dress and grooming guidelines in order to participate in the practice and ceremony.

Senior Recognition & Capping Ceremo ny Thursday, June 6, 2013 6:00 pm - SHS Gym All students participating in the Senior Recognition Ceremony will meet in the SHS library no later than 5:30 pm. Graduation cap, tassel, gown and SHS stole will be worn over the clothing.

Senior Recognition The Senior Recognition Ceremony is designed to recognize each senior for their academic achievements during the year. It will include numerous honors such as UIL Academics, National Honor Society, Senior Project, Distinguished Plan, Honor Graduate, Top Ten Percent, Salutatorian and Valedictorian. College, state and local scholarships will be announced. Those who have enlisted in the armed services will be recognized.

Capping Ceremony The Capping Ceremony will mark a senior’s academic achievement and continued commitment to learning. Each graduating senior will choose a special person – parent, grandparent, teacher, or friend – to place the cap upon his or her head.

Graduation Ceremony Friday, June 7, 2013 5:00 pm - Sunnyvale First Baptist Church All students participating in the graduation ceremony will meet at Sunnyvale First Baptist Church no later than 3:30 pm. Graduation cap, tassel, gown and SHS stole will be worn over the clothing.

Attire for Baccalaureate, Senior Recognition, Graduation Ladies: nice dress (length of skirt should not extend below the graduation gown) low heeled, dark shoes (black or navy) Not Acceptable Could work Acceptable

Senior Collage No larger than 16 x 20 Narrow frame – preferably black as not to distract from collage or other collages. Easel to support framed collage – Collages will be set on tables for viewing. Please provide easel.

Cap & Gown Announcements Seniors filled out measurement card at the end of August. Required to buy cap, gown and tassel. Jostens Student Center 4445 I 30, Suite 26, Mesquite, Texas 75150 ~(214) 321-4100 Showroom Hours: Monday - Thursday 3:00 to 6:00. Cap and gowns will be delivered on Thursday, May 9. If your seniors name appears on the “not clear” list for fines or lost textbooks, they will not be allowed to pick up cap and gown until record is cleared.

Credits Needed Check to make sure your senior has completed credit check. Check with your senior weekly on progress in their classes in order to graduate on Friday, June 7, 2013!

Scholarships/ Awards Received We will compile a list of Scholarships/Awards received for the Recognition Ceremony as well as create an insert for our graduation program. Please go to link: www.sunnyvaleisd.com> Students>Seniors> Scholarships Information form, to list any scholarships/awards your senior has received during their senior year. www.sunnyvaleisd.com We will use this list to compile all academic awards/scholarships for recognition ceremony and graduation.

Career Crusing Career Cruising is an Internet-based career exploration and planning tool available for students to explore career and college options and develop a career plan. Career Cruising can be accessed from school, from home, or wherever Internet access is available.
