Victorian times I Economic context: The economy experienced a remarkable transformation during the 19th century. Distribution of British labor. Distribution of British national income, 1801-1991

The Victorian times II Social context: The Victorian times marked the height of the British industrial revolution and the apex of the British Empire. Before the Industrial Revolution, Britain had a very rigid social structure consisting of three differenced classes, High class, middle class and the Lower class.

Victorian times: Social context: - High class or Aristocracy: It includes the royal family, the clergy or church and the nobility, having a great power and wealth. They wer only the 2% of the population.

Victorian times: Social context: - Middle class: They were the fabric owners, bankers, shopkeepers,... In some cases they were extremly rich but they hadn’t any privilege.
