Dickens’ London Map The story takes place during the Victorian Era – a period of history from during the reign of Queen Victoria. The town that Ebenezer Scrooge lives in is called Camden Town. Describe where the town is located. Be specific.

Tiny Tim Tiny Tim was a little boy who had an illness which made it difficult for him to walk without a crutch. What disease is he believed to have been suffering from and what were its effects. (Provide the scientific name given) Hint: Scroll down the page to Tiny Tim’s Ailment.

Work Houses When Scrooge is asked to donate money to the poor, he refuses and asks, “Are there no prisons? And Union workhouses?” What is a Union Workhouse? What were the living conditions like? What did they eat? Hint: These can all be answered in one paragraph.

Plum Pudding Plum Pudding is mentioned as a big treat for Bob Cratchit’s family on Christmas Day. What are the main ingredients? What did they make the pudding in? Hint: You will find the information in the left hand column scrolling down.

Dickens’ Life Visit this website and select six or more important events in Charles Dickens’ life. Place the events on a timeline in order. Hint: This does not need to be in paragraph form but still needs to be done in complete sentences.

Child Labor Child labor was a horrible occurrence of the Victorian Era. What is Child Labor? Explain 3-5 hardships that child laborers faced.

Money Money in the Victorian Era London was known as: pound, shilling, and pence. Scrooge paid Cratchit “fifteen shilling a week.” What could you buy with that? Hint: Scroll down to find “Fifteen Bob a Week”

Bed Curtains Scrooge was afraid to move the “bed curtains” for fear he would see another spirit. What are “bed curtains”? Why were they used?
