Recommendation Letters Following receipt of DISCOVERY & ISAT scores, Geneseo High School will be mailing a letter indicating all recommended core courses. If a parent has concerns about the course recommendation(s), please contact Mr. Utsinger or your child’s high school counselor. Selecting Electives Course terms which are “S12” meet either semester Course terms which are “S1” meet first semester Course terms which are “S2” meet second semester Make sure you select both semesters of a year long course. Year long courses are indicated in bold on page 2 of the Course Planning Guide. (i.e. foreign language, band, choir, Family and Consumer Science, Intro to Ag). Do not select a course with 9 as the second number without teacher permission. Early Bird Freshman and Sophomore students who request an early bird Advanced Wellness/Fitness or PE may request early release 7 th period with written parent permission. On the second page of the early bird permission form is an area designated for a parent signature. Please review the form carefully with your son/daughter. Early Bird Classes Advanced Wellness – Mr. JohnsonPE – Mr. Hillman Driver Ed Classroom is not offered during early bird. You will find the required early bird form on the counseling webpage under “Course Planning”. Return this form with your choices of electives. Freshmen will be scheduled for early bird if space allows. Freshmen in Early Bird Advanced Wellness or PE must also request a semester of PE/Driver's Education OR delay Behind the Wheel until 2nd semester of sophomore or 1st semester junior year. Study Hall recommended for all freshmen You may take one or two semesters of study hall. First semester study hall (90121). Second semester study hall (90122). Students may seek additional academic assistance from teachers during study hall. There is no guarantee your study hall will be scheduled during 7 th period. Meetings at the Middle School Counselors met with the entire 8th grade class today to distribute a course planning guide and list of course offerings. Students and parents can begin to enter course requests in their Skyward Account today. Students will need to bring their printout of course requests with them to school on February 11th. Students who fail to return their requests on February 12, will not be able to attend the spring dance at the MS. Directions for requesting elective courses in Skyward (electives only) Select at least 4 credits entered under “courses requested”. If you have 4 credits, you must select a first and a second semester study hall. If you have 5 credits, you need only select a first OR a second semester of study hall. If you have requested 6 credits, you cannot request a study hall. To begin the process, you will log on to the Family Access page using either the parent or student access. Click “Course request 2014-2015” (Top right) 3. Highlight each request (Follow the pink scheduling worksheet for choices) 4. Click on “Add Course” 5. Check list of choices you have made. 6. If correct, select the print icon on the top right side of the page and print. 7. Logout This page must be signed by a parent and student. Return to the Middle School by February 11 th. Signature Page Your skyward printout must have parent and student signatures. The print out of your requests must be turned in to the middle school counselors by February 11th. Please do not request “alternates” in online scheduling. Write at least 1 full year class and 1 semester class as “alternates” on the skyward printout page. Do not write down a class you are not prepared to enroll in. YOUR QUESTIONS?? Your skyward printout must have parent and student signatures.
