Research 101 introduces basic research skills that are essential to every college student, regardless of your interests or degree area. In the tutorials, you will learn how information comes into being, and become knowledgeable about the wide variety of sources that are available for library research today. You will also learn searching techniques to help you quickly identify the best books, articles or web sites, and strategies for evaluating the quality and usability of such sources. You will also learn how to navigate the large UF Libraries system and become acquainted with research assistance services for students. Demonstration of H-ITT Clicker System – Classroom Response System for interactive instruction experience. Attend University of Florida Preview Sessions for New Students Attend University of Florida Preview Sessions for New Students Non-Traditional Activities, Games & the Libraries Non-Traditional Activities, Games & the Libraries - The University of Florida's George A. Smathers Libraries are currently investigating games for outreach, instruction, research, and professional communication. See upcoming events on the Games in the Libraries page. Games in the Libraries Games in the Libraries -This investigation includes both in person and virtual gaming: - Games in the Library: events, including playing Guitar Hero Games in the Library Games in the Library - Bioactive: Bioactive is an interactive fiction game about bioterrorism. Players must use key UF library resources in order to save themselves and the school. Bioactive - Second Life: The Libraries are currently investigating and testing Second Life, internet-based virtual world for social and professional interaction, for internal use and for patron services. Freshman Preview Orientation Introduction to the Library begins with Preview, the mandatory orientation program for all new students. Freshman orientation is the first step in helping you transition from high school to college. The Library participates in the Preview activities and informs students and parents about the programs and services.

Mystery in the Stacks Mystery in the Stacks Wednesday, Oct 1st, and Tuesday, Oct. 14th, 6:00pm - 7:00pm Alberta’s been gator-napped! Come to the third annual Mystery in the Stacks to play detective, win prizes, find Alberta, and learn about your library resources. Open to the first 25 students.
