8 4/24/2015 Spiritline Tryouts Information Meeting8 VARSITY Consists of 18-20 female members Can be freshman, sophomores, juniors, or seniors If males make the team, they will be in addition to the female members Varsity spiritline is a MANDITORY CLASS and is also required to participate in the competition team before school practices Varsity performs at all football games, and most basketball games, as well as other various events

9 4/24/2015 Spiritline Tryouts Information Meeting9 JUNIOR VARSITY Consists of up to 18 members Can be freshman, sophomores, or juniors – seniors cannot make JV JV spiritline is a MANDITORY class JV performs at most football and basketball games, as well as other various events

10 4/24/2015 Spiritline Tryouts Information Meeting10 FRESHMAN Consists of up to 18 members Only freshman can be on the team Freshman cheer practices before school, but not for a class credit Freshman cheer performs at most football and basketball games, as well as other various events

11 4/24/2015 Spiritline Tryouts Information Meeting11 Spiritline Tryouts Process Day 1- Day 4 are “Clinic Days”. Here they will learn a dance, cheer, jumps, and the fight song. The judges are selected from a professional cheer organization NOT associated with Chandler High School

12 4/24/2015 Spiritline Tryouts Information Meeting12 Spiritline Tryouts Process The current seniors will be helping to run warm-ups and stations, and teach the tryout material They are not involved in the judging or scoring process at any time

13 4/24/2015 Spiritline Tryouts Information Meeting13 Tumbling Requirements To make Varsity, you must have a SOLID standing back handspring AND back tuck of any sort. To make Junior Varsity, you must have a SOLID standing back handspring WITHOUT a spot. The tumbling level you demonstrate at tryouts will be expected to be maintained and improved upon throughout the year. You will be placed on probation and possibly removed from the team if you fail to perform the same tumbling skills at practices or game performances that you demonstrated at tryouts.

14 4/24/2015 Spiritline Tryouts Information Meeting14 Competition Squad VS Game Squad The Freshman game squad will all compete as a Freshman team. Varsity is required to be a part of the competition team. JV members can choose to tryout to be on the Varsity competition team in August. However, ALL of JV will be required to attend Zero hour practices. If a Varsity member can’t perform at the required level for competition, they may be replaced by a JV member The Varsity competition team will have additional practices outside of the Spiritline class. (Saturday practices if needed)

15 4/24/2015 Spiritline Tryouts Information Meeting15 Physicals This is a NEW POLICY!!! You must have a NEW physical dated after March 1, 2011. EVEN IF YOU ARE ON CHEER THIS YEAR!!!!

16 4/24/2015 Spiritline Tryouts Information Meeting 16 Physicals (continued) You must have the doctor fill out the white physical card. Fill out the orange insurance card and bring both forms the first day of tryouts

18 4/24/2015 Spiritline Tryouts Information Meeting18 Competition Estimated Cost If we decide to go to Nationals, every member will be required to pay an additional $400 in January.

19 4/24/2015 Spiritline Tryouts Information Meeting19 To Be Eligible to Tryout You Must Live in the CHS Boundaries If you are not currently living in the boundaries for Chandler High School, you must have an approved boundary exemption to tryout. Boundary exemptions must be approved before the first day of tryouts.
