5 QEP Learning Outcome Ethical and moral Reasoning - Students examine the views and values that influence their own decision-making processes - Students take responsibility for their own learning and development, acting ethically to achieve their goals and aspirations Engage diverse perspectives - Students gather, analyze, and thoughtfully use, evidence and multiple perspectives to support their own ideas Community engagement & collaborations - Students apply and explore the impact of the concepts, theories, and skills learned in class on issues affecting their local and global communities

18 ORI – 100 Purpose overview: Answering the question ‘Who am I?’ involves knowing/understanding that there are different components that make up who we are. There are 4 key pieces to the puzzle that make up who we are: Personality, Values, Skills and Interest. ORI -100 –MBTI Purpose: To help students identify their personality preferences and reflect on how it relates to discovering their calling. Discover Your Calling – Fall 2013 (cont.)

19 ORI-100- Values, Skills and Interest Purpose: To help students identify their values, skills and interest and reflect on how it relates to discovering their calling. Discover Your calling workshop – Who am I in relation to others (social Justice) Purpose: To help students understand that they are part of a greater whole and understand who they are in relation to others and how they can make a difference. Who am I Prezi Purpose: To provide an introduction/overview of the Vocational Discernment Process, or the steps involved in discovering their calling. Discover Your Calling – Fall 2013 (cont.)

20 Prezi Project The Prezi must be titled ‘Who am I?’ Include the exercise from the Freshman Experience Day – (I love….I am good at…I am passionate about…I am determined… I want…) Include the 4 pieces to your puzzle: – Your personality – Your values – Your skills – Your interests Include who you think you are you in relation to Society – what societal need is important to you? E.g. poverty, homelessness, etc, what do you think you can do to make a difference, talk about your community service and what you learned from it

21 Prezi Project continued Include the informational interview Instead of the 2 page paper, you will be putting what you learned from the interview into a slide (or 2) in your prezi. This is what is says in the syllabus: For this assignment, you are required to contact a professional who is in a career that interests you. This can be a family member, professor, supervisor, or another person you already know. This can also be someone you have not yet met (Career Development is available to assist you in connecting with someone). – What was confirmed during the interview, based on your previous knowledge and the research you conducted? – What new information were you given that surprised you? – Did you learn anything that strengthened your interest in the field or turned you away? – Are there any questions that you still have? – What are your next steps toward pursuing this career path? – What can you do now to further prepare for this career path?
