Private, Historically Black, Liberal Arts, United Methodist Church Affiliated Institution located in Marshall, Texas 1,325 – total full-time student enrollment 1,239 – total number of African-American students 1,041 – total number of Pell-eligible full-time students 993 – total number of first generation full-time students

Program Description Ensuring Minority Students’ Access, Retention and Persistence to Graduation Program Aims: 1.Strengthen the academic skills of almost 75% of each year’s entering freshman class 2.Increase the retention rates 3.Ensure that students remain in good academic standing 4.Increase their graduation rates 5.Facilitate their enrollment into graduate or professional school programs

Highlighted Success Retention ▫Retention rate for first-year to second-year students for the last three years (2007, 2008, 2009) are 78%, 70%, and 78% for all first-time students which includes transfer students. Graduation ▫The six-year graduation rates for the past three years (2007, 2008, 2009) are 53%, 57%, and 60%.
