TBC 101 5 Section 2: Salvation 1. What does it mean to be a Christian? 2. Why am I here? 3. What is my problem? 4. What is the answer? 5. What should my response be?

TBC 101 Baptism Who should be baptized? Every person who has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. 6

TBC 101 Baptism What is the Purpose of Baptism? Baptism is symbolic in nature. Baptism does not save you. We believe it is an outward picture of what has happened inside. It pictures Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. It pictures my new creation as a Christian. 7 It is a way to publicly show that you are a Christian and to openly identify with him.

TBC 101 Baptism Why Should I be baptized? Because the Lord commands it. The example of the New Testament believers. To follow Christ’s example. 8

TBC 101 Baptism Why Baptism by Immersion? Because the Jesus was baptized that way. In the New Testament, every baptism was by immersion. Baptism comes from the Greek word ‘baptzio’ which is translated to immerse. Immersion shows the picture Paul gives in Romans 6:3-4 of Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. 9

TBC 101 Lord’s Supper 10 Why Observe the Lord’s Supper? Christ commands it. Christ desired that it be continued. It is a symbol. The wine and bread in a symbolic way represent and remind us of the body and blood of Christ. It....... ✓ reminds us of the death of Christ for us. ✓ proclaims the Gospel. ✓ points to the future.

TBC 101 Lord’s Supper 11 Who Should Take the Lord’s Supper Only those who have Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. If you take the Lord’s Supper in an unworthy manner, you will be judged.
