7. TBC 101 Baptism What is the Purpose of Baptism? Baptism is symbolic in nature. Baptism does not save you. We believe it is an outward picture of what has happened inside. It pictures Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. It pictures my new creation as a Christian. 7 It is a way to publicly show that you are a Christian and to openly identify with him.

9. TBC 101 Baptism Why Baptism by Immersion? Because the Jesus was baptized that way. In the New Testament, every baptism was by immersion. Baptism comes from the Greek word ‘baptzio’ which is translated to immerse. Immersion shows the picture Paul gives in Romans 6:3-4 of Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. 9

The wine and bread in a symbolic way represent and remind us of the body and blood of Christ. It....... ✓ reminds us of the death of Christ for us. ✓ proclaims the Gospel. ✓ points to the future.

Step #2 If it cannot be resolved, a more public contact with the member is made where at least two other witnesses are present. Step #3 The matter will be brought before the church body as a whole and the member will be exhorted to seek to correct the problem. 33
