Good News! The Messiah announced in the Scriptures came, and he comes again. In his kindness, God sends us Jesus, his Son, to comfort us and free us from all forms of captivity. To prepare the way, is to be open and in a state to receive.
5
Isaiah 40, 1-5; 9-11 Like a good shepherd the Lord will liberate his captive and humiliated people.
6
The end of slavery is very close, the return to Jerusalem imminent. God will act. He will straighten the winding paths and will lower the hills, thus promoting migration.
7
Psalm 84 (85) With the psalmist Christians can sing of their hope and their joy. Since the coming of Christ, since his death and resurrection, we know that this day of love and brotherhood has already begun.
8
2 Peter 3, 8-14 If the Lord tarries, it is because he wants to give us time to change our heart to welcome this great project of love and to contribute to its realization.
9
Mark 1, 1-8 Marc announces something new. He announces the Good News concerning God’s love and goodness that Jesus comes to reveal and that will change the lives of all humans.
10
It begins with the preaching of John the Baptist. He preaches conversion and offers the baptism of water to those who want to change their lives.
11
The good news is revealed to us! Jesus came to open our horizons and give meaning to our lives. What good news! And the announcement of his coming is only the beginning St. Mark tells us.
12
An attitude is proposed to us We must prepare ourselves to receive the one that God in his benevolence, sends in our midst. By the mouth of Isaiah and John the Baptist the Lord asks us to prepare the way of our heart.
13
A responsibility is entrusted to us For the Lord is counting on us to carry out his project of love. If he fills us with his Spirit, it is to enable us to welcome his blessings, so that it becomes for us a way of being and acting, so we can render it contagious in our surroundings.
14
Prayer We pray, that your Spirit helps us to lighten our being of all concerns and all false needs that encumber it. Come, Lord, come comfort us and renew us.
15
We thank you, Lord, for those persons who facilitate our meeting with you, by their unconditional acceptance, their smile, their gentleness and forgiveness. Come, Lord, come fill them with your love. Come rekindle their hope and their joy. Amen.
