Two simple lines drawn on my head Gently made with chrism I’m welcomed into the family of God On this special day of baptism This is the cross I wear.

Jesus shares his love for us In the communion bread we receive I’m given this cross today to wear As a sign I truly believe. This is the cross I wear.

A black cross of ashes upon our brow Marks the first day of Lent And reminds us to be true to the gospel And for our sins, repent. This is the cross I wear.

With a wooden cross around my neck And white gown tied with string The candle I carry, the bible I hold, The altar bell I ring. This is the cross I wear.

It is a sign I wear each day On my shirt, sweater or vest We are children of faith, hope, and love Tells the cross on my school crest. This is the cross I wear.

I walk with others in His name. He is the way, the truth and the life. A journey together in prayer and praise We are the salt, we are the light. This is the cross I wear. It may be new, it may be old But its meaning stays the same. Jesus carried the cross for me And I wear this cross in His name.
