The Life of Christ Joseph returned to Palestine when he heard Herod died – Afraid to stop in Judea because of cruel Archelaus – Took his family back to Galilee (Nazareth) which was his original home (Matt 2:23) Nathanael was skeptical that any good thing could come out of Nazareth (John 1:46) About 80 miles north of Jerusalem 18

The Life of Christ We don’t know much about Jesus’ years in Nazareth – It could be that Joseph taught Him the carpenter’s trade because some people knew him as “the carpenter” (Mark 6:3) Later the people of Nazareth refused to believe He was the Son of God (Messiah) – Matthew 13:53-58; Mark 6:1-6; Luke 4:16-30 19

The Life of Christ Capernaum – Jesus made this city his headquarters in the early phase of His ministry – Was on the northwest shore of the Sea of Galilee 2 ½ miles southwest of where the Jordan enters the Sea – Checkpoint on two trade routes Damascus to Jerusalem and also Damascus by the coast to Egypt 28

The Life of Christ Tyre and Sidon – Woman of Canaan came to Jesus to ask Him to heal her daughter Called a Greek Syro-Phoenician (Mark 7:26) Tyre and Sidon were the two main cities of Phoenicia Later the Romans included it as part of the province of Syria 33
