17 Work-Based Licensure Requirements Years 3-5 (CATE Pre-Professional License) Pass Basic Skills examination (WorkKeys)* Complete six semester-hours of professional coursework *All CATE teachers are expected to take the basic skills examinations at least once a year until all portions are passed. Work-Based Licensure

18 Areas of Misunderstanding Reciprocity-NONE Hiring before LOE-Fines, Report Card Basic Skills exam – (WorkKeys, Praxis I no longer exists) Competency exam -State vs. Industry Professional Development coursework ADEPT SAFE-T/Diagnostic Assistance and the Induction certificate Waivers or extensions- can be issued for ADEPT DIRECT Institutes can be completed out of sequence based on hire date. Ex. Hired in October or later A Request for Change/Action Form MUST be sent in when submitting documents! Work-Based Licensure

22 Pre-Service Please remind candidates that pre- service registration begins at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 13, at Dreher High School in Columbia, SC.

23 Praxis If a candidate passes the Praxis BEFORE December 12, 2014, he/she will be cleared for Winter pre-service If they do not have their scores back before the beginning of pre-service, they can go ahead and participate in pre-service, but if they do not receive a passing score they will NOT receive a license and if hired for 2015-16 must attend pre- service again along with the registration fee.

25 Extension year candidates If you have candidates on an extension year, please help us stay on top of their coursework and passing the PLT Pre-approved course list is on Moodle for current participants Please submit your ADEPT reports for extension year candidates

26 COEs After December 8, 2014, please submit a COE for 2015-16 in order to generate candidates for summer pre-service. These candidates must be considered a long- term substitute until 2015-2016.
