(unofficial are acceptable for preliminary acceptance) Current Resume Letter of interest which includes: Reason for interest in program, intent of pursuing teaching career, concentration (elementary or secondary), description of work experience, involvement in previous professional development and any prior experience related to the teaching profession. If employed by a school district, a statement of employment from your school principal stating position, title, and acknowledgement of participation in the San Juan College Alternative Licensure Program. Complete and sign Candidate Agreement Scores from NMTA Tests or proof of registration.

Field Experiences School HR Visit Library Tour – Curriculum Center Board Meetings Experiential Learning Trip Classroom, Student, and Teacher Observations Teacher Visits and Interviews Administrator Interviews Technology Lab School Site Visits Final Field Experience (90 hour minimum)

Final Field Experience Qualifications met Placement approved by district, principal and program Level III cooperating teacher (regional training) Classroom observations by cooperating teacher, college supervisor, principal – formative assessment Evaluation of competency proficiency – cooperating teacher and college supervisor – formative and summative assessment Portfolio and Journal – support for proficiency of competencies

Program Completion Completion of program of study Minimum GPA of 2.8 Grade of B or better in field experience course Program completion is posted on transcripts Letter and certificate of completion are issued from program

ALP Cohort 5 9 graduated in December 2006 4 elementary 2 secondary – science, math 3 SPED – first SPED graduates 8 are currently employed in schools with placements in Central, Farmington, Bloomfield, and Gallup-McKinley County Districts

ALP Cohort 6 16 members 7 elementary 9 secondary – science, SS, Spanish, business, technology, math, performing arts, language arts 4 SPED + 2 Graduates 12 are currently employed in schools Bloomfield, Central, Farmington, Cuba 18 in Field Experience including 3 from previous cohorts and two doing double duty Districts represented: Central, Farmington, Bloomfield, Cuba, Gallup-McKinley

ALP Cohort 7 12 members 6 elementary 4 secondary – SS, business, performing arts, language arts 5 SPED (2 are already licensed and teaching elem) 8 are currently employed in schools - Aztec, Bloomfield, Farmington, Lumberton
