Common Core 8 Mathematical Practices Designed to promote more Critical Thinking Focus on Career and College Readiness Be able to communicate mathematics through writing

8 Mathematical Practices

Key Points to be Successful from the beginning Students need to participate Get Help in class or at break or lunch Use Online Resources Stay current on homework Take retests if needed

GRADING SCALE Weighted Grade 85% is Assessments 15% is Work  A = 90% - 100%  B = 80% - 89%  C = 70% - 79%  D = 60% - 69%  F = 59% AND BELOW

HOMEWORK  Assigned daily  Rubric  5 points – Perfect homework  4 point – No information or missing only a couple of problems only a couple of problems  3 points - not done or not completed.  2 points – Missing multiple problems  1 point – Late and turned in after test

Homework Continued Perfect Score: Done in PENCIL with their Name, Date, Period, Assignment Listed on top of page, problems written out, work shown, answer found, and assignment completed.

TESTS  Tests and quizzes make up a majority of each students grade. On the weighted scale they account for 85% of the grade.  If a student is absent, they may make up a test during break or lunch.

RETEST REWRITE Must have all homework in for that ChapterMust have all homework in for that Chapter Complete the corrective assignment if there is oneComplete the corrective assignment if there is one Set up a Retest timeSet up a Retest time Corrections to incorrectly answered problems on testCorrections to incorrectly answered problems on test Deadline is by the next Chapter test, usually two to three weeks after the last test.Deadline is by the next Chapter test, usually two to three weeks after the last test.
