History PPrehistoric people probably lived in the Nebraska Region between 10,000 and 25,000 years ago. Scientists base this belief on the discovery tips of stone tips and weapons. In 1714, a French explorer and adventurer Etienne Veniard de Bourgmont, traveled up the Missouri River to the Mouth of the Platte River. OOur state became a state on March 1, 1867, the 37 th state.
