3 Goals: Increase awareness of meth use and its production within Nebraska communities. Show meth’s relationship to public health, safety, rural economic development, and families. Compel citizens to take action to help combat this growing problem.

6 What are our experiences? Types of groups Knowledge and awareness level Strategies implemented

7 Evaluation results: Over 4,000 Nebraskans learned about meth in over 125 different presentations. 16,000 participant pieces were distributed. In a pre-,post-program evaluation, participants showed over 34% increase in all areas of knowledge presented. Almost 74% had never attended a meth education program.

9 Changes Needed: Volunteer Litter Pickup Nebraska’s State Patrol Hot Line Teenage Drinking Problem

10 Hidden Dangers Meth lab operators are now discarding waste materials in ditches and other remote areas of our community. Leaders of scouts, 4-H, church organizations, and Adopt-A-Highway and Keep Nebraska Beautiful groups should be made aware of potential dangers.

12 Nebraska Teenage Drinking Stats Source-2003 National Youth Risk Behavior Survey  Ranked 9 th for teenage binge drinking.  3 rd among teenagers that reported driving after drinking.  2 nd in teens that reported riding with a drinking driver.  Over ½ of Nebraska teens reported they currently use alcohol – 6 th in nation.
