15. Remember! A computer program is a teaching tool. You are still the teacher and students need your interaction while in the lab.

16. Accompany your students to the lab.

17. Many of the tested concepts are difficult for students at first and some may give up unless they can work with a partner. When the pair shows an 80% mastery level, separate them to show individual mastery. Put your students in pairs.

18. Make sure students have pencil and paper in the lab. Just because a problem is on the computer does not mean that it is mental math. Bring Materials

21. What to cover for instruction? Tie the lesson in the lab to the lesson in class. Focus on the outcome. These TAKS items reflect what the student will be held accountable for - therefore after the teacher has taught the lesson, the students should be able to do these problems.

22. Review for TAKS Students should take the pretest to determine which student expectations have not been mastered. Students should work on those expectations first. As the test approaches, students can review other objectives.
