End-of-Course (EOC) Tests End-of-Course (EOC) testing is a recommendation of the High School Redesign Commission and is an increasingly common practice in many other states. End-of-Course tests help ensure consistent and rigorous instruction and expectations throughout the state. EOC tests are gradually replacing 9 th grade iLEAP, 10 th grade GEE, and 11 th grade GEE.
8
Implementation Schedule
9
9 i LEAP and GEE Phase Out In 2010-2011, 9 th grade iLEAP will be discontinued. In 2011-2012, 10 th grade GEE will be discontinued (except for retesters). In 2012-2013, 11 th grade GEE will be discontinued (except for retesters).
10
Implementation Schedule
11
11 EOCs in High School Accountability In 2010-2011, the Baseline SPS for high school accountability will be based on iLEAP and GEE ( and LAA 1 & LAA 2 ). In order to have an “apples to apples” comparison in 2011-2012, a “transition” baseline SPS consisting of 2010-2011 EOCs will be created. The 2011-2012 Growth SPS, used for Growth Labels, will include the same EOC subjects as the 2010-2011 “transition” baseline.

Technology Updates 27
28
Tips for Planning Ahead Review the Technology Guidelines and Testing Manuals Ensure that each school is assigned a technology point of contact Form a team to ensure district technology coordinators and network administrators work with each school Determine how many students are testing at each school and assess bandwidth needs 28
29
Tips for Planning Ahead Ensure that proxy servers and firewalls allow access to EOC servers Ensure that pages from www.louisianaeoc.org are not cached by district/school servers www.louisianaeoc.org 29
30
Preparing Computers for Testing Make sure the secure browser is downloaded to lab/classroom computers – This is the same version of the browser that was used last May (version 2.20.2 for windows and 1.20.2 for Macs) Run the compatibility script on lab/classroom computers – Checks to ensure java scripting is enabled – Checks for the Flash Player and the SVG Viewer 30
31
Preparing Computers for Testing If images are used to prepare student computers, ensure that the image contains all required EOC settings and software components 31
32
2010 – 2011 EOC Tests System Updates Multi-race and ethnicity now required for students – Ethnicity and race fields are required when manually entering students or uploading students using CSV files Potential EOC retesters will be preloaded to schools – 6 th, 7 th or 8 th grade students that failed the Algebra I EOC test in the last two years 32
33
2010 – 2011 EOC Tests System Updates Student Testing Interface Changes – Tools and resources have been moved to a toolbar at the top of the screen – Undo/redo button was added for constructed-response and essay test questions – Enhancements have been made to flag server connection errors 33

Network Considerations 36
37
Tips for Indentifying Local Network Issues Ping EOC servers to determine application availability Complete traceroute to determine possible failure points Validate that district or school-level content filtering systems allow EOC test content to be transmitted Monitor router, firewall, and content filtering statistics 37
38
Recommendations for Saturated Networks Validate that provisioned bandwidth can be reached Provision additional, short-term bandwidth Reduce the use of non-essential applications Stagger testing throughout testing day and across testing window, if possible 38
