I NTERPRETATION Inalienable rights- all persons have certain, essential rights that include enjoying and defending their lives, acquiring, possessing and protecting property; safety and happiness http://www.michie.com/colorado/lpext.dll?f=templ ates&fn=main-h.htm&cp=

I NTERPRETATION CONT. Due process-(law) the administration of justice according to established rules and principles; based on the principle that a person cannot be deprived of life or liberty or property without appropriate legal procedures and safeguards Legaldefinitions.org

S UPPORT Several religious groups are pro-amendment 62 because they interpret the beginning of life as conception The Catholic church has been a big factor in supporting bills such as Amendment 62 Would prevent abortion in Colorado Typically pro life groups support this amendment Most Republican candidates Information gleaned from amendment62colorado.org

This would includes any procedures, pills, or medical care that may harm a “person” from conception

O PPOSITION Most pro-choice groups are against the amendment Most Democrats Opposition says it would take away a woman’s freedom to have control over her body Would hinder stem cell research Would “stretch” the limitations of the law

U NINTENTIONAL HARM If Amendment 62 should pass it would be pushing the boundaries of the law It would put medical professionals at a liability Treat a woman; damaging an unborn child Would the law apply to a woman who harms a baby by smoking, neglecting to buckle up, alcoholism, or any other physical neglect? In other words what are the limitations of the law?

H ISTORIC P ASS /F AIL In 2008 a similar bill in Colorado failed with a 73% vote against the bill Six states have created and repealed abortion laws due to “dirty” abortions and out of country abortions The United States has been working to create abortion laws to please both sides ; since the early 1900 they have been unsuccessful
