For the teacher: This is intended as an activity to help Y10 pupils to produce a piece of extended writing about their free time activities. Here’s what I did: Divide the class into groups of 4 and give them 10 minutes to do the odd ones out (most of the possible answers are marked on the first slide, each odd one out is for a different reason) Then give each group one of the 7 hobby slides. They have 3 or 4 minutes to write the 3 appropriate sentences, which you then go over. Then the groups have 3 minutes to discuss what they could add to make those 3 sentences into a good quality piece of writing. Possible answers are on the last slide. Then the groups have 15 minutes to write this good quality piece on a big piece of paper. The following lesson I displayed the pieces of work on the wall, marked and with the GCSE coursework mark scheme stuck on it, showing what that piece of work would get and why. ©MFL Sunderland 2008 CS http://www.sunderlandschools.org/mfl-sunderlandhttp://www.sunderlandschools.org/mfl-sunderland
