University Honors E-Portfolio Pilot Outcomes Assessment of the Honors program is difficult because students are from many disciplines, schools, and colleges The common experience is core courses: – HNRS A192 Honors Seminar: Enduring Books – HNRS A292 Honors Social Science Seminar – HNRS A310 Community Service: Theory & Practice – HNRS A392 Honors Thesis Seminar – HNRS A499 Honors Thesis

University Honors E-Portfolio Pilot Portfolios would allow Honors students to showcase their work and allow assessment team to independently evaluate products In Fall 2010, two classes will be asked to begin building a portfolio through Blackboard – HNRS A192 Honors Seminar: Enduring Books “Limits to Growth” Revisited (Mary Logan) – HNRS A292 Honors Social Science Seminar: Gender, Culture, and Nature (Claudia Lampman)

University Honors E-Portfolio Pilot Each of these courses requires a major project Students will be provided with a rubric that shows how the project will be evaluated both: – in the course (for a grade), and – for outcomes assessment (by other faculty with no impact on student) The rubric’s are based on AACU rubrics – Handout examples Students will submit their work through a Blackboard interface, including: – Project materials – Reflections about how their project achieves the stated outcomes in the rubric
