English Language (Linguistics) has lots of terminology Just 3 for you to be aware of at the moment: Lexis (language) Semantics (the actual meaning) Pragmatics (implied meanings) “It’s cold in here” (semantics = the temperature is cold) (pragmatics = you should close the window)
