The preparation of a surface for an artist is what my planning & my learning are to me in teaching – an undercoat, allowing thoroughness through preparation

The artists’ brushes are what the scaffolding is to me in teaching – teaching tools (Allen, 1989 )

The artists’ freshly squeezed paint is what the different learning styles are to me in teaching – all individual, rich, vibrant and ready be used/ learn

The artists’ ability to decipher what, where, how & when in colours and application of the paint is what my planning & my learning are to me in teaching – a deep understanding and knowledge

The artist’s mixing of the paint to create new colours is what the combining of different learning styles to create new experiences is to me as a teacher – the students within the classroom.

The artist standing back to gain perspective of their overall work is what assessing of students is to me in teaching – are we all heading in the right direction

The artists’ second coat is to me in teaching when I guide, lead and motivate the students on further – all is well covered, motivation is high in seeing progress
