ECMA / SLAAC Status Provo, Utah 9/14/1999 Presented by Matthew French Systems Programmer, Information Sciences Institute GOVERNMENT ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS L O C K H E E D M A R T I N DARPA

USC INFORMATION SCIENCES INSTITUTE 2 ECMA / SLAAC Objectives Challenge Problem: Existing Tactical Electronic Counter-Measures Equipment is Not Adaptable to a Changing Threat and Does Not Readily Support Real-Time Reconfiguration or Long Term Modifications SLAAC / ECMA GOALS : Demonstrate That Nonlinear ECMA Functions can be Efficiently Implemented in an Adaptive Computing Environment Demonstrate that SLAAC / ECMA Can Reconfigure to Adapt to a Changing Threat Demonstrate that New Capability Can be Easily Added to a SLAAC / ECMA Configuration Provide a Transition Path for SLAAC / ECMA to be Implemented in a Real- Time Tactical System

USC INFORMATION SCIENCES INSTITUTE 3 Status as of Last Retreat l ECMA Functions n Eight Existing and One Enhanced ECMA Functions Successfully Modelled n Board Tests for Five ECMA Functions Complete l SLAAC Hardware n Initial VHDL Mapping to AMS Wildforce Board in PC Desktop n Transition VHDL Algorithms to SLAAC II / CSPI VME Nest n 3Q99 Demo (Goal) of Above Algorithms on SLAAC II /CSPI VME Nest Desktop PC WildForce Board l Demonstration n AMS Wildforce in Desktop PC n Data Captured from SPY ECMA n Two SLAAC ECMA Functions compared to SPY ECMA

USC INFORMATION SCIENCES INSTITUTE 4 ISI Progress l Ported Algorithm #1 to SLAAC2 n Beta tester for SLAAC simulator n Beta tester for SLAAC2 drivers l Helped debug SLAAC2 boards n Verified memory test n Provided extra sanity for other tests l Ported Algorithm #1 to SLAAC1 n Verified no need to replace and reroute n 2 days to port l Shipping SLAAC2 within next week to LMGES

USC INFORMATION SCIENCES INSTITUTE 5 Algorithm #1 Results l Utilization n 555 CLBs, 17% of X0 4085, 2% SLAACII Board n Higher than 8.9% X0 Estimate –Overhead in replicating external memory bus –Memory width decrease 32 -> 18 –State machines designed with K.I.S.S. philosophy n Issues to take into account in SLAAC2V architecture l Runs at 6x Required Speed n Resource sharing n Ample slack to integrate with existing and future SPY components SLAAC II Board SPY ECMA Function 1 SLAAC 2V ?

USC INFORMATION SCIENCES INSTITUTE 6 WildForce Results Algorithm #1 Key SPY ECMA Input Data SPY ECMA Output Data WildForce Output Data

USC INFORMATION SCIENCES INSTITUTE 7 SLAAC2 Results

USC INFORMATION SCIENCES INSTITUTE 8 Demo

USC INFORMATION SCIENCES INSTITUTE 9 Remaining ISI Tasks l Deliver SLAAC2 Hardware l Assist LMGES in porting remaining eight algorithms to SLAAC l Demonstration to Navy
