Flexible curriculum Two options, to accommodate high achieving students in all majors Track 1: students take Honors seminars which satisfy most AUCC core categories Track 2: students do the regular core, take upper division courses in their major

In other words.. The Honors Core for Track 1 satisfies all AUCC requirements EXCEPT Math Science Add’l Communications 3 cr of Arts/Humanities

Discipline Honors Scholar (Track 2) Students satisfy regular AUCC core requirement in each category Students meet Honors requirements by completing 12 upper division courses in the major Freshmen take 1-credit Honors seminar (IU193H) Also requires a 1-credit pre- thesis and 3-credit thesis class in the major Students can enter Track 2 after freshman year

Admission to Honors New Freshmen Auto admit: (137+ index) 4.0 GPA, 32 ACT or 1400 SAT math & verbal Invites: (127-136 index) 4.0 GPA, 27 ACT, 1200 SAT Transfers and CSU students: 3.5+ GPA, major with Tr2 program

More on Track 2 Application is NOT on our website; hidden URL (contact us) Track 2 applications are screened by us but department has final approval Students who are admitted after first semester do NOT receive the honors scholarship

Advising Honors students Honors students are referred to departments for major advising We track Honors progress and answer general questions No graduation contracts, but I check each student the semester before graduation and review DARS GPA requirement: Before FA11, 3.0 cumulative GPA After FA11, 3.0 at the end of freshman year, then 3.25 There is an appeals process

Meeting requirements Track 1 students must finish the entire core (seminars, 2 courses in major, thesis) to clear DARS. If they drop out before they finish (or don’t finish all of it), they get partial credit.

Incompletes in prethesis or thesis HONR399 (prethesis): Incomplete = U grade HONR499 (thesis): Incomplete = F after one year Surprise! student cannot graduate with an Incomplete grade
