Accepted Students Weekend March 21 & 22 - 800 students and family members on campus (approximately 3,200 people total) Some statistics 1.Charleston 40 & >300 student volunteers helped 2.26.5% Male, 73.5% Female 3.49.5% In-State 4.50.5% Out-of-State 5.15.2% Students of Color 6.24 faculty gave “mini-lectures” 7.Many had intended majors 1.SSM – 28%. SOB – 19%, 2.HSS – 18%, EHHP – 11%

Retention Highlights One year retention rate from Fall 2012 to Fall 2013 for all freshmen was 82.4%  1% increase from last year One year retention rate for transfer students was 79.5%, which is an 11 year high. Black / African American retention for all freshmen increased from 77.6% to 87.8%.  This is 5.4% higher than the average for all freshmen. The declaration of a major shows a strong positive correlation for freshmen and transfers 1.Freshmen declared = 92.6%; undeclared = 67.6% 2.Transfer declared = 83.4%; undeclared = 36.4% There is not a significant difference between in-state (82.2%) and out-of- state retention (82.7%) Six-year graduation rate for 2007 entering freshmen was 64.5%, down from 68.4 % for the previous year. However, four (56.2) and five year (64.5%) graduation rates are up from last year suggesting a coming increase in the six-year graduation rate next year.
