5 Copyright Extronics Ltd 2010 Automatic Mustering & Personnel Location System How it works
6
6 Copyright Extronics Ltd 2010 Automatic Mustering & Personnel Location System Location Tracking - Position by Choke Point Detection Extronics Tag Exciter causes the tag to transmit & it’s location. Ideal for use as a Muster Point Multiple Exciters are used to cover larger areas
7
7 Copyright Extronics Ltd 2010 Automatic Mustering & Personnel Location System At entries & exits, two Extronics Tag Exciters can be used to detect direction of movement. A then B = “In” B then A = “Out” This can be used in different locations e.g. lifeboats, site entrance (vehicles) Location Tracking – Entrance & Exit Detection & Counting
8
8 Copyright Extronics Ltd 2010 Automatic Mustering & Personnel Location System This method of location of an Extronics Wi-Fi tag or Wi-Fi device is zone based. Hence only to the vicinity of a particular access point or location receiver Location Tracking – Position by Presence Detection
9
9 Copyright Extronics Ltd 2010 Automatic Mustering & Personnel Location System At least three access points or location receivers determine the position of a tag using either the tags’ RSSI (received signal strength indicator) or TDOA (time difference of arrival) of the tag’s radio signal. This allows calculation of the location to between 3 to 30 metre accuracy depending on type & density of infrastructure Location Tracking – Position by Triangulation

12 Copyright Extronics Ltd 2010 Automatic Mustering & Personnel Location System Zebra Technologies - Ultra Wide Band High Accuracy - TDOA location and radar principles Low powered tags - long battery life - 5 years+ High density of location receivers required - approx every 50 metres. Complicated infrastructure - location receivers requiring connection to synchronisation hubs Claim ATEX certification - no certificates for download! http://www.zebra.com/ http://www.zebra.com/ iMUSTER - Competition

19
19 Copyright Extronics Ltd 2010 Automatic Mustering & Personnel Location System Initial Questions What type of system is required - Automatic Mustering or Automatic Mustering and Location? How many personnel are to be Mustered or Located? Are they all in Ex areas + Area Classifications Is an Emergency Call button required on the Tag? What Wi-Fi vendor is preferred? Environmental conditions where the equipment will be used? If location is required - what level of accuracy is desired? Are there detailed plan view plant drawings and a Google Maps link?
20
20 Copyright Extronics Ltd 2010 Automatic Mustering & Personnel Location System iMUSTER Pricing Example Agrochemical Company based in UK 350 staff + 40-50 contractors. Use a manual card system (card in or out of slot) and a manual reader. There are nearly 20 toxic refuge sites - mainly control rooms or offices. One fire alarm muster point. It takes 20+ mins to ring each toxic refuge for head count & cross reference with manual system. Wireless system in non – ex areas. Company would like to combine a muster and general wireless system and develop in stages: Muster and possibly checking staff through the 2 site entry / exit points. Personnel location if unaccounted for and lone worker. Wireless for hand-held PDAs in the Ex areas.

21 Copyright Extronics Ltd 2010 Automatic Mustering & Personnel Location System iMUSTER Pricing Example cont’d.. The largest set of items in the breakdown is the iTAG100 1CB with additional call-button feature, which, if full wireless is installed in phase 2, enables the wearer to send an emergency call. There is the lower-cost non-Ex version, iTAG300, which could be used for personnel who never enter the Ex areas, but this would have to be carefully controlled. These are £59 each The second largest item of cost is the Software: Tag programming suite, Base Licence and “Mobile View” for up to 500 tags. This is already enabled to function for personnel location, asset tracking etc. For the purposes of this budgetary guide, we have estimated the need for 4 Ex exciters for the factory gate, two non-Ex for the office entrance, 4 non-ex for the Fire Muster point and 40 for the 20 Refuge Points. There are also the additional Wireless Access points for the gate. Additional costs would include site surveys, professional integration services, items such as tag holders etc.
