Wounded Warrior Project Mission: to honor and empower wounded warriors

Wounded Warrior Project Purpose: to raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of severely injured service men and women to help severely injured service members aid and assist each other to provide unique, direct programs and services to meet their needs

The founding program of WWP Thousands delivered bedside to service men and women in military and VA trauma centers and hospitals Contents include comfortable clothes, playing cards, toiletries, CD player, calling cards, and more Signature Backpacks

A smaller version of the WWP backpack, TCPs are sent directly to Iraq and Afghanistan to provide immediate comfort during a warrior’s relocation to a U.S. military trauma center Transitional Care Packs (TCPs)

Provides comfort items and information on WWP resources to less severely injured warriors being treated at Warrior Transition Units and warrior transition battalions Serves as an initial outreach to a large population of wounded warriors Warrior Transition Unit Kits (WTUs)

Benefits Counseling Provides guidance to navigate government benefits available to injured service men and women and their families

Family Support Provides support and respite programs for family members, spouses, and caregivers of severely injured service members Program highlights include respite retreats and a network of family outreach coordinators for support and networking

Combat Stress Recovery Developed to address one of the signature, yet invisible, injuries from the Global War on Terror, PTSD Education seminars and online tools help warriors learn key facts Project Odyssey, a rehabilitative retreat conducted with VA mental health counselors, helps warriors build skills to recover

Advocacy Provides injured service men and women a voice in local and national issues Ensures current legislative and government policies reflect sensitivity to the unique needs of our wounded warriors Wounded Warrior Bill signed by President Bush in June 2005

Soldier Ride Adaptive, rehabilitative cycling program for wounded warriors Provides all equipment for cycling, even for warriors with severe injuries such as amputations and blindness Cycling challenges held in cities nation-wide in 3-5 day segments

WWP Alumni Designed by wounded warriors for wounded warriors Provides avenue for communication, networking, sharing and camaraderie beyond the hospital room Builds a network of peers that provides aid, inspiration, and companionship

The first education center in the nation specifically designed for wounded warriors The 12-month program gives warriors a jumpstart on their educational goals Students enter as a team and continue through the program together, offering the ideal environment for students at all ability levels Education focuses on MIND, BODY and SPIRIT

Transition Training Academy Provides IT training for injured service members at military medical treatment facilities Enables warriors to build work skills for civilian and military employment Established as a partnership with the Department of Labor and Cisco Systems
