2 CHAPTER PREVIEW  Winston’s reintegration process continues. O’Brien gives him a ton of information at the beginning, saying that the Party is indestructible, the Party will succeed indefinitely because it controls everything (basically the human mind), and the Party will be rid of all enemies because anything similar to what Winston has done will be abolished. O’Brien views the future to be a hateful and humiliating world. O’Brien makes Winston look in the mirror to search for a picture of “humanity.”

3 CHAPTER PREVIEW CONT’D…  Winston freaks out over how much he’s aged and how creepily crooked his spine is. Winston lashes Back at O’Brien when he refers to his image as “the last man,” and that’s when O’Brien realizes that Winston has yet to betray Julia. Regardless, it doesn’t matter because everyone gets shot in the end, but ye figures he might as well play it safe and destroy the last loyalty that Winston has held onto.

10 CHAPTER PREVIEW  Winston first decides that he wants to learn to be stupid and follow the Party. His torture, after however long, subsides a bit and he gets fatter an stronger. One night, he screams out Julia’s name while dreaming, and while the guards are coming for him, he realizes that his real goal is to die hating the party. When he stumbles upon this realization, he tells O’Brien that he hates Big Brother, and O’Brien says that it’s time to take Winston to Room 101, because not only does he need to learn obeidnece, he has to love Big Brother.
