Writing Effective Goals and Objectives Special Education In-Service September 25, 2009

Session Objectives Teachers will use student performance data including OAT and OGT results to develop IEP Goals and Objectives. Teachers will manipulate various websites to help with monitoring IEP Goals and Objectives.

Identify Areas of Need Determine Strengths and Weaknesses Prioritize Areas of Need Focus on Foundational Pieces of Curriculum What does the state think is important? (OAT/OGT blueprints) What does the child need to level the playing field?

How can you, or better yet, HOW WILL YOU correlate the information that you have analyzed from your students performance on standardized and state scores and incorporate that information into annual IEP goals and objectives for progress monitoring? Let’s think SMART if we are measured through OAT/ OGT / Alternate Assessment… Shouldn’t we align our IEP Goals and Objectives to our students performance on those assessments?

Quick TIP: You may click on “Submit Test” for immediate answer key for grading and progress monitoring documentation. Student test will begin here if taking online version of teacher created assessment.

If your students took their test online, you can click on enter score and observe student performance, answering patterns, distracters and recommendations given by the state for common errors. This screen will also allow you to add extended response score.
