The letters IEP stand for Individualized Education Plan. A legal document developed by a team of people including parents, students, teachers, counselors, nurses, administrators, special educators, and others Provides a plan with goals and services to help students with disabilities reach their potential in school Is reviewed and implemented yearly Formal evaluations are done every 3 years to determine eligibility for special education services

Is due to chronic or acute health problems such as asthma, attention deficit disorder or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, diabetes, epilepsy, a heart condition, hemophilia, lead poisoning, leukemia, nephritis (kidney disorder), rheumatic fever (inflamitory disease that follows an infection), sickle cell anemia (blood disorder), muscular dystraphy (deterioration of muscle tissues), and Tourette syndrome; and (ii) Adversely affects a child’s educational performance. [§300.8(c)(9)] May include other conditions not stated here.
