Tips for Testing By: Kayla Richardson

Are you hungry? Tests aren’t easy when your hungry. You need to eat a good breakfast in the morning when you have a test. If you only have a bowl of cereal, a breakfast bar, or a big stack of pancakes it will help you during your test. Just remember to eat breakfast on test days you might surprise yourself how much better you feel.

Are you tired? Tests really aren’t easy to do when your tired. You need to get a good night sleep the night before a big test. You don’t want to turn in a test that has drool on it and nothing done, that could be bad. Whether you get 15 more minutes of sleep than you usually do or you get 5 hours more, it could really help you in the long run. Getting sleep is important not just for you but for your education.

Did you forget your pencil? Its kind of hard to finish a test when you don’t bring a pencil. Always remember to bring a pencil with you on test days, and even when you don’t have a test. Teachers aren’t made of money they can’t keep buying pencils every time you forget yours. Make sure the pencil you are using is a # 2 pencil, anything else will not work on your answer key and you will fail the test. If you bring a mechanical pencil make sure it’s a # 2

Need to use the Restroom? Its really difficult to concentrate on a test when you need to use the restroom. Make sure you use the restroom before you take the test, they will not let you go while the tests are out. Even if you don’t need to you the restroom before the test always go just in case. Be prepared, use the restroom :)

“Sit, Think, and Write” As Ms. Dorsey says, don’t rush, take your time think about it for a little while and it will come to you, and just sit, think, and write. Don’t rush, take your time you will do ok, just do your best. If you really don’t know an answer don’t leave it blank just guess you have a ¼ chance of getting it right.

Tests aren’t that hard! Don’t make the tests any harder on you than they already are. You need to stay calm and don’t feel rushed you have plenty of time. All the negativity is in your head just don’t think to hard, the more nervous you get the worse your answers will be just stay calm and do your best.
