Adjectives are words that describe or modify another person or
thing in the sentence.
Degrees of Adjectives
They can express degrees of modification:
Gladys is a rich woman,but
Josie is richer than Gladys, and
Sadie is the richest woman in town.

3. Sadie is the richest woman in town.
The degrees of comparison are known as the positive
Gladys is a rich woman,but
the comparative frequently adds the suffixes -er although
we need -ier when a two-syllable adjective ends in “y”
Happy-happier , otherwise we use more when an adjective has more
than one syllable.
Josie is richer than Gladys
the superlatives frequently adds the suffixes -est although
we need -iest when a two-syllable adjective ends in “y”
Happy-happiest, otherwise we use most when an adjective has more
than one syllable.
Sadie is the richest woman in town.
