Equalising Education Educational Divides in the UK

There is up to a 40% gap in attainment between pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds and those from wealthier families. In 2014 38% of poorer pupils achieved 5 A*-C grades compared to 64% of wealthier pupils The gap widens as children get older. 68% of women achieve a 1 st or 2:1 compared to 63% of men. Women in the UK are a third more likely to go to university than men Wealthy students are twice as likely to go to university than poorer students, but the gap is narrowing.
