European Union - Advantages Allows free trade with no tariffs or quotas allows free movement of people to live and work allows companies to expand and sell throughout Europe Aid given to poorer regions to help development

Aid to regions To help poorer areas of EU develop given to areas of high unemployment, low incomes funding must also come from local/ national government

Enlargement Increases market for companies greater freedom of movement aid will be given to new countries many migrants may move to richer member countries

NATO - advantages and disadvantages Successful alliance should be kept to defend Europe may be used as a peace- keeper e.g. Kosovo keeps USA in European defence protects members from future threats No longer a threat from Soviet Union Europe should be able to protect itself and not rely on USA the USA cannot be trusted to protect Europe NATO members do not have a common enemy
