2. Infinitives All verbs have a infinitive. The infinitive (in this instance) will end with -er (hence "-er" verbs). When verbs are in the infinitive form, it always has the "to" meaning in English. (Jouer - To play).

3. Stem/Root To begin conjugating, drop the -er ending. What is left is called the stem. Ex: Infinitive- ParlerStem- Parl

4. Conjugations Place the stem with each subject pronoun. Parler (I)Je parl(We) Nous parl (You) Tu parl(You) Vous parl (He/She/One)(They) Il/Elle/On parlIls/Elles parl

5. Conjugations Once you have placed the stem with the subject pronouns, add the following endings. Je -eNous- ons Tu -esVous -ez Il/Elle -eIls/Elles -ent

6. Parler- To Speak Add the appropriate endings Je parleNous parlons Tu parlesVous parlez Il/Elle/On parleIls/Elles parlent

7. Meaning When these verbs are conjugated they have the meaning of: Am speaking Are speaking Is speaking Speak

8. Examples Je parle anglais. I speak English. I am speaking English. Tu parles avec ta tante. You are speaking with your aunt. Il parle beaucoup. He speaks a lot. He is speaking a lot.

9. Examples Nous parlons de Mireille. We are speaking about Mireille. Vous parlez espagnol. Y’all are speaking Spanish. You speak Spanish. Elles parlent avec Jean-Paul. The are speaking with Jean-Paul.
