In English, the demonstrative adjectives are this, that, these and those. Observe: masculinféminin singulier ce billet (this, that ticket) cette voie (this, that track) pluriel ces billets (these, those tickets) ces voies (these, those tracks)

Before a singular masculine noun that begins with a vowel or vowel sound, ce becomes cet. ce traincet ordinateurcet horaire

If you want to distinguish between this and that, and these and those you need to use the suffix –ci or –là. cette fille-ci = this girl cette fille-là = that girl ces magazines-ci = these magazines ces magazines-là = those magazines Je n’aime pas ces livres-ci, je préfère ces livres-là. (I don’t like these books, I prefer those books.)
