2 Background Peer Network formed in 2004 A strategic alliance: –Alberta Association of Municipal Districts and Counties (AAMD&C) –Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA) –Alberta Municipal Affairs (AMA) –Alberta Rural Municipal Administrators’ Association (ARMAA) –Local Government Administration Association (LGAA)

3 Who are Peer Mentors? Elected officials and senior municipal administrators Highly experienced Selected from each of the associations Volunteers Trained in coaching, communication, facilitation and dispute resolution – kept up-to-date with best practices

Its confidential You initiate direct contact with a mentor through the phone or in person You use the mentor’s experience and training to help resolve issues Issues most often resolved through phone conversations The mentor is only another phone call away for follow up or advice
