Amphetamines- Results in excitation, restlessness, rapid speech, irritability convulsions, insomnia, stroke, and death. Cocaine- Results in depression, mental disorders, damage to lining of nose and blood vessels when sniffed, or death. STIMULANTS Crack- is an addicting form of cocaine with the same effects and problems. Speed up the central nervous system.

DEPRESSSANTS Tranquilizers Valium May lead to dependence and withdrawal symptoms that include convulsions, cramps, and overdose. Also called sedatives, tend to slow down the central nervous system.

NARCOTICS MethadoneOpium Morphine Codeine Heroin Use may result in decreased alertness, confusion, slurred speech, nausea, vomiting, unconsciousness, and possibly death. Some narcotics are used to relieve pain.

HALLUCINOGENS PCP- or angel dust LSD Perceptual distortions, confusion, loss of coordination, violent behaviors, and anxiety. Delusions, hallucinations, increased panic, severe mental disorders, or death may result from use. Also known as ‘psychedelics’ drugs, are drugs that change the way a person perceives the world.

CANNABIS The scientific name for marijuana, a hemp plant. The leaves and flowers of marijuana are smoked, eaten, or drunk for intoxicating effects. Hashish Marijuana

REFLECTIONS I choose this lesson to enhance your thinking about drugs. Drugs are not the solution to a problem. It adds to the problem. I hope this lesson will challenge you to reach your goals without doing drugs and to be the best you can be. Remember! A mind is a terrible thing to waste.
