INTRO What is triceratops? How big is a triceratops? What does it eat? Does it have horns? There’s a lot to learn about triceratopses. You will get some of these questions answered in this book.
7
Diet Triceratops are herbivores. Triceratops have frills on their head. Herbivores are plant eating dinosaurs. A triceratops eats more than 80 pounds a day. The beak chomps through the leaves and the teeth grind the leaves.
9
Horns The horns are pointy and sharp. They kill and pick up dinosaurs. They have 2 horns above each eye and 1 grows above its nose! The big horns are for killing dinosaurs like the T- Rex! The bones turn into fossils. Sometimes in this time we find some of the triceratops fossils. The top horns are the most useful ones. The top ones are for ramming. The little are for picking up dinosaurs.
11
Defense Triceratops have 3 horns on their head. 2 tall ones and 1little one. The big ones are for defending. The little ones are for picking up dinosaurs. When a predator charges at it the triceratops charges at it too! The attacker might get killed by the horns or it will win. The frills are for showing off. Triceratops eat a lot when they’re baby to adult.
13
Teeth and Beak If one tooth comes out a brand new tooth comes in right away. Triceratops grind their food to chew, then they swallow their food. Their teeth are square type like ours. Triceratops have a hard beak. Their beak is pointy. But their teeth are not pointy like ours.
