The Problem

We had different correct item practices over the years. In NOTIS, item records were rarely seen by the public; they were primarily for internal use Aleph is highly item-dependent; item data is an integral part of the public display

The Problem When we imported item data into Aleph, we put NOTIS Enum data in field A of the item form, and Chron data in field I of the item form. Later on, FCLA ran a machine fix to delete “v.” from field A.

The Solution 1. Delete unnecessary spaces 2. Separate different levels of enumeration and chronology 3. Format appropriately 4. Check OPAC for results
