Prepared for: Air and Waste Management Association (A&WMA) Southern Section Conference August 8, 2007 Successes of Innovative PHOSter II™ Vapor-Phase Remediation Technology under State Cleanup Programs

Development & Commercialization of PHOSter II™ Technology PHOSter II™ Vapor-Phase Process & Capabilities Remediation Site Case Histories/Lessons Learned System Improvements & Expansion of Technologies Presentation Overview

PHOSter was developed by Department of Energy (DOE) Scientists and Researchers M Seepage Basin, Savannah River Site, Aiken, SC Largest DOE pilot demonstration to date Introduced nutrients to conventional bio-sparging & bio-venting processes PHOS ter Development

eGeo was awarded the contract by DOE to redesign PHOSter system in 1996— under the name PHOSter II™ PHOSter II™ technology is viable for remediation of contaminated groundwater Systems housed in a Small (6-Point) or Large (12-Point) Trailer configuration PHOS ter II™ P rocess

Vapor-phase nutrient injection to stimulate indigenous microorganisms Gaseous Injection of:  Air (used as Carrier Gas)  Phosphorous (TEP)  Nitrogen (optional)  Propane (if needed) PHOS ter II™ P rocess

Biological Air Sparge – 0.5 to 2.0 cfm per injection well Triethyl-phosphate (TEP) injection encourages bacterial cell division Pulsed injection process overcomes oxygen and phosphate site limitations PHOS ter II™ P rocess

Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) allows remote checking of telemetry and System Status (via modem) eGeo Systems remain on- site for the duration of the remediation cleanup effort PHOS ter II™ P rocess Process Flow Diagram

PHOSter II™ Large Trailer Two Compressors operating 12 Injection Points; rate of 1 to 2 cfm per injector Average Monthly Power Use: 1,056 kWh Total Power Use (36-month effort): 38,016 kWh Electrical Power Cost: $84.50/month; $3,042.00/total P ower C osts S ummary

PHOSter II™ Small Trailer One Compressor operating 4 Injection Points; rate of 0.5 to 1 cfm per injector Average Monthly Power Use: 719 kWh Total Power Use (36-month effort): 25,884 kWh Electrical Power Cost: $56.80/month; $2,044.80/total P ower C osts S ummary

 PHOSter II™ Technology has been employed at 24 remediation cleanup sites in various soil matrices and geographic regions in the following locations:  Georgia (2 Sites)  Alabama (3 Sites)  South Carolina (10 Sites)  Florida (7 Sites)  Pennsylvania (2 Sites) eGeo Case Histories

Client: Tom Joiner & Associates, Inc. Tuscaloosa, Alabama Office PHOSter II™ Small Trailer was mobilized to the remediation cleanup site in September 2003. Amoco Station, Detroit, AL

In January 2006, all key monitoring wells reached Alabama target limits for Benzene and MTBE. In October 2006, site was entered into Alabama Post- Remediation Monitoring Period. In January 2007, ADEM regulators awarded site “No Further Action” (NFA) designation Amoco Station, Detroit, AL

Client: Tom Joiner & Associates, Inc. Tuscaloosa, Alabama Office PHOSter ™ Small Trailer was retrofitted and transported to the cleanup site on April 2006. Circle C Site, Tuscaloosa, AL

PHOSter II™ client training/system startup event was May 3, 2006. eGeo estimates 24-months to reach MTBE and Benzene risk-based corrective action limits. Circle C Site, Tuscaloosa, AL

Client: Enviro-Logical Solutions, Tampa, FL PHOSter II™ Small Trailer was mobilized to the remediation cleanup site in January 2001. For the first time, eGeo utilized existing air sparging injection wells (see IP-1 through IP-6) Former Tenneco Site, Starke, FL

The correction action remediation cleanup site reached Florida target levels for Benzene and Naphthalene in August 2002. After the FL DEP post- remediation monitoring period (4 Quarters), the site received “No Further Action” letter in 2004. Former Tenneco Site, Starke, FL
