What is the Code of Student Conduct? Rules that all students in Prince George ’ s County are expected to follow. Failure to follow these rules can lead to exclusion. The Code also tells what will happen if the rules are not followed.

Student Behavioral Contract I Know that I have a right to: Be in a safe school, free from discrimination, harassment and bigotry; Know what is correct and what behavior may result in disciplinary actions; Counseling by staff about my behavior and how it affects my education and welfare in school; Due process when I violate school regulations for which I may be suspended or removed from class.

Come to school on time and be prepared to work; Use courteous and polite language; Participate in class meetings; Resolve conflicts peacefully and express my feelings in words; Dress in a clean, neat and safe manner; Take care of my personal belongings and respect other people ’ s belongings; Tell my parents what I learned in school each day; Complete my homework every day; Follow the rules in the Code of Student Conduct. Disrespect and Insubordination Students and Staff should always remain respectful of each other. Students should acknowledge teacher and staff request…the first time they are given. The classroom should be a safe and respectful learning environment.

The school bus is a moving classroom, the same rules that apply in the classroom also apply on the bus and at the bus stop.

Bullying Bullying, harassment, or intimidation are serious and will not be tolerated. Means intentional conduct, including verbal, physical, or written conduct, or an intentional electronic communication.

Bullying Creates a hostile educational environment, motivated by an actual or perceived personal characteristic, threatening or seriously intimidating, disrupts the orderly operation of the school Occurred on school property; at a school- sponsored activity or event off school property; on a school bus; or on the way to and/or from school

Bullying examples… Getting another person to hit Continuous teasing, name calling, making critical remarks Demeaning and making the victim of jokes Making rude and/or threatening gestures Excluding or rejecting the student Spreading a harmful rumors or gossip Physical or psychological injury

Safe Learning Environment By respecting each other and acknowledging the Student Code of Conduct. We ensure a safe learning environment. Students should allow everyone an equal opportunity to learn without distractions. The role of a school community is to uplift and enable all of it’s members. We should remember these things during our daily activities and decisions.
