UBL has been adopted for invoicing by the governments of Denmark and Sweden. 15 UBL 2.0 document types planned for adoption by the UK government’s Zanzibar marketplace. The UBL Certificate of Origin is being used by Pan Asia Alliance. In the U.S., pieces of UBL are being used by the U.S. Navy the U.S. IRS (the federal taxation agency) and UBL will be used in a pilot project by the Dept. of Transport.

UBL 1.0 is an OASIS standard. UBL aims to be an ISO standard. UBL has an invitation to bring the UBL activity into UN/CEFACT. There is a plan in which… (1) UBL 2.0 will be reviewed by PGs (working this week) –Recommendations for improvements –Based on the results of these reviews UN/CEFACT will determine how to recognize UBL 2.0 as an external specification following its approval as an OASIS Standard.
