Carousel Activity In pairs: Move around the data tables and make a summary judgement on the progress to date based on the teaching and learning indicator evidence

Review points: Observations are now acting as a key diagnostic assessment of teaching and learning, recognised as robust sector leading practice by other colleges, Colleges Wales, TES, auditors and Estyn on two inspections Accurate grading, all observers have undertaken tandem observations, Estyn have verified our grading twice, the last visit found our observation profile an exact match to theirs More work needed on evaluative comments Continue to ensure as Directors and DDs/ WBL managers that there is a system for all teachers to be observed, especially new teachers and hourly paid staff

Describing the questioningEvaluating - Questioning is good because The teacher asked a range of questions and learners responded well. Questioning was used effectively to elicit understanding and to further challenge learners to extend their thinking

Activity: Look at the cards in front of you. 1.Pick out the descriptive comment. 2.Assess which comments evaluate which grades and why

A peer marking activity enabled learners to engage with how their work was marked and begin to identify ways to improve. This could be further improved by clearer instructions around using the marking scheme
